Alison Hill

Alison Hill is a Supervising Attorney in the Civil Rights Bureau of the Illinois Attorney General’s Office. Alison’s role includes monitoring, investigating, and enforcing civil rights laws that prohibit discrimination on behalf of the state, including issues such as unconstitutional policing practices, discrimination in housing, employment, education, public accommodations and financial credit services, and civil hate crime enforcement. Alison has filed numerous lawsuits alleging violations of the Illinois Human Rights Act, served as lead counsel in the state’s first civil hate crime lawsuit, and challenged federal regulations through comment letters, amicus briefs and other affirmative litigation. Alison is also involved with the Bureau’s legislative efforts on various topics including discrimination, school discipline, and campus sexual assault. She oversees colleges and universities’ compliance with Illinois’ Preventing Sexual Violence in Higher Education Act, including providing statewide training and issuing compliance reports. In 2023, Alison was honored by the Black Women Lawyers’ Association of Greater Chicago, Inc. with the Lawyer on the Rise Award. Alison received her JD from Loyola University-Chicago and her bachelor's degree from Indiana University.
