Jason Rosensweig
Jason Rosensweig serves as the Director of Legislative Affairs and Policy at the Illinois Department of Human Rights, with a background in academia, policy, advocacy, public service, and community and coalition building. Jason’s passion is in bringing together different groups and people to build a strong social fabric, communities, and institutions. He believes deeply in effective government that is the best expression of the people and a positive force for all, and that the Department can be a national leader in protecting all people and creating a healthy and harmonious society.
Previously, Jason was Director of Chicago for the Shalom Hartman Institute, a think tank, and Assistant Director for Advocacy and International Affairs at the American Jewish Committee (AJC). He was also a member of the 2021 Class of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs Emerging Leaders Program, and serves on the board of the MLK Chapter of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Chicago.
Before his career in public service, Jason was an academic studying and teaching political philosophy, with a focus on pluralism, community, and how we can best get along in a shared, free society. He was Adjunct Professor of Government at American University and Lecturer at the University of Chicago, where he also earned his PhD from the Committee on Social Thought. He received his BA and MA from Stanford University in Comparative Literature and French Literature, respectively.
