Marcia Balonick

Marcia Balonick, a native of Chicago's South Shore neighborhood, has dedicated her career to advancing political advocacy and community engagement. She graduated from South Shore High School before earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Denver. Marcia began her professional journey in Denver as an assistant retail buyer and later transitioned to the banking industry in Chicago, where she notably served as the only woman in the credit department as a credit analyst.

In 1982, Marcia's passion for political action led her to join JACPAC (Joint Action Committee for Political Affairs), initially volunteering on the research committee. She quickly rose through the ranks, serving as treasurer from 1984 to 1988 and subsequently becoming one of JACPAC’s research directors. Her leadership continued to flourish, culminating in her election as president in 1990 and later assuming the role of executive director from 1993 to 2023.

During her tenure as Executive Director of JACPAC, Marcia Balonick played a pivotal role in advocating for policies supporting Israel’s security and the two-state solution, promoting women’s rights, fighting for common sense gun laws, and combating discrimination and hate in all forms. Her influence extended beyond JACPAC, as she actively participated in the government affairs committee for JUF (Jewish United Fund) and contributed to the National Gun Violence Prevention Table. Marcia also dedicated her time to community service, serving two terms on the Board of Directors for Congregation Makom Solel Lakeside.

Marcia's steadfast commitment to social justice and her extensive experience in political advocacy make her a valuable asset in the ongoing fight against discrimination and hate crimes. Her leadership continues to inspire and empower individuals and organizations to strive for a more inclusive and equitable society.
