Marvet Sweis
Marvet is a trial attorney concentrating in the areas of catastrophic injury and wrongful death matters. She received the prestigious Top 40 Attorneys Under 40 Award by Chicago Lawyer Magazine and was named an Illinois Rising Star by Super Lawyers Magazine each year, consecutively from 2014 through 2022. In 2020, the Arab American Bar Association of Illinois and the Decalogue Society of Lawyers named her Community MVP with the Building Bridges Award. And, in 2021, Justice Jesse G. Reyes of the Illinois Appellate Court, along with the Diversity Scholarship Foundation, honored her with the Advocate for Diversity Award.
Marvet is the immediate past President of the Arab American Bar Association and has been appointed by the Honorable William J. Haddad to serve on the Executive Board of AM-VOTE, the American Middle East Voter’s Alliance. Marvet has also been appointed by the Honorable Margaret O’Mara Frossard to sit on the Executive Committee for the UIC Law’s Advisory Board, where she regularly mentors law students and speaks on ethics and professionalism in the law.
Because of her success, Marvet was featured in the viewbook of UIC Law, her alma mater, where she made the Dean’s List and was inducted into the Phi Delta Phi Legal Honors Fraternity. Marvet graduated from DePaul University in 2004, where she received a dual bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Psychology, with a concentration in Human Services. She was inducted into Pi Sigma Alpha Political Science Honors Society and is a proud alumna of Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School, which advocates for the empowerment and advancement of young women.
