Christopher E. Swims

Christopher E. Swims has served as the Senior Pastor of Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church in Carbondale, Illinois, since November 2010. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Speech Communication with a concentration in Interpersonal Communication from Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

In addition to his pastoral duties, Pastor Swims is the Facilitator for Jackson CEO, an entrepreneurship education program designed to equip individuals—particularly youth—to become responsible, enterprising leaders who contribute to economic development and the creation of sustainable communities. He also serves as a Small Business Advisor for the Illinois Economic Empowerment Center at SIU, a substitute teacher for Carbondale Elementary School District #95, and a staff chaplain for Southern Cremations and Burial Services in Murphysboro, Illinois.

Pastor Swims is actively involved in his community, serving on several boards, including Vice President of the Carbondale Community High School District 165 School Board, member of the Head Start Governance Board, and Recording Secretary and proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Mu Kappa Lambda Chapter. He and his beloved wife, Brittany, reside in Carbondale with their daughters, Carrington Leigh and Kennedy Amelia.
